Hawaii, Part 2: Honolulu Aquarium, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor
So I went a little stir crazy and edited hundreds of photos at once, so here are some extra pictures from the very first leg of my trip:

One thing I really loved about Hawaii was the spam musubi, which is basically just spam on top on a rice ball, but OH. MY. GOD. I don't know what they put in the spam but it was SO delicious. They even had variations on the theme with extra cheese/bacon/egg on top and I COULD EAT THIS EVERY DAY I SWEAR. We went to this really tiny hole-in-the-wall place that was just amazing.

After that we did some really touristy things and visited the aquarium, which was small but still pretty cool.

Bloop bloop.

Also: JELLYFISH. They are so weird. but also so great. I wish I had a pet jellyfish.

O HAY IT'S ME AGAIN.

Adventure time (again) with Bunny and Squiggle the Travelling Pig.

Guest starring Lobby, whom we got at the Hanauma Bay gift shop, and who now belongs to my younger cousin ;_; I MISS YOU ALREADY.

And then, while we were there, this happened:

How do you not love a place that loves spam so much they have a festival for it???

On our last day there we went to Pearl Harbor, which I didn't actually think I would enjoy, but it wasn't too bad, I suppose!

I mean, we actually got to go in/on here, which is pretty cool. These places are ridiculously expensive, though. Our ticket must have set us back by almost SGD$50.

Clearly I am not happy about being in a cramped space, y'all.

I honestly cannot imagine having to live on a ship for an extended period of time, because man was it cramped in there. I don't usually get claustrophobic, but walking through the hold of that ship was pretty much, even for me. There were these tiny toilets and foldable beds and room for just one person at a time in the passageway. Just, urgh, no.

Obligatory embarrassing shot.

Obviously they didn't design these things to fit tiny Asian girls.

Annnnnd that is it for Hawaii! More pictures, obviously, on Facebook. I'm actually halfway done with my San Diego pictures (and fully done with my LA ones), but don't expect another update anytime soon, the way I'm procrastinating. Also, work is starting to wear me down =( Hopefully things (and by things I mean me) get better soon.

Hawaii: Part 1
Everything so far has been really lovely. The weather is great, though a little chilly. I guess we're just not used to, y'know, wind. Everyone is very friendly, which is very refreshing. All we've really been doing so far is trying to get past our jet lag + eat a lot.

The bar in our lobby (cleverly named The Studio) is hidden behind this bookshelf in the day. Very clever.

Did I mention our hotel is fantastic? Because it really is. They got hold of our bags about five seconds after we got off the taxi and promptly whisked them away, and the concierge is this very sweet young man who helped us book our tour to Hanauma Bay.

Loco moco - a local favourite consisting of a hamburger patty and a sunny side up on rice. DELICIOUS.

This is Hanauma Bay - apparently it's the crater of a volcano that erupted thousands of years ago. Achingly beautiful place. We actually got lost trying to get there yesterday (we got off at the wrong bus stop) and basically wasted three hours on the bus, not including the hour we spent in the sun waiting for the bus to come. We decided to play it safe the second time around and arranged for transport, which included snorkeling gear, so YES I went snorkeling today! It took a while to get used to, and water kept getting into my goggles, but we saw some pretty funky fish! I even have the pictures to prove it (we used a disposable underwater camera). I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I couldn't see anything underwater so V took all our underwater photos. They turned out pretty good, though! I'll probably post some up once I get hold of a scanner or something. The only downside was that the water was FREEZING. idek why. We swam through some really cold pockets a couple of times, which was disconcerting, to say the least. I was a little apprehensive at first about going out so far because I'm not the strongest swimmer + the fins were really uncomfortable, but V really helped me out and (literally) held my hand through the worst of it so ;_; I actually got to see some fish! Fishiessssss.

LOOK AT THAT WATER THO.

I LOVE IT HERE.

Happy birthday, Mo!
It's going to be my mum's birthday tomorrow, but since it's a weekday we decided to have an early birthday celebration for her over the weekend. We decided on this v delicious Japanese restaurant at East Village Hotel. They have the BEST grilled salmon belly, but when we got there it was all sold out =( Nevertheless, everything else was also very delicious, so \o/

I can't remember what this place is called, but it's on the first floor of the hotel, so you can't miss it! Great food and very affordable prices. It's just a pity it's so out of the way (the hotel is situated right smack in Changi V).

Our appetizer! I don't actually know what this was. It tasted a bit like dried pork floss. Not that tasty, unfortunately.

V being ridiculously unglam. AS USUAL.

Look at me all artistic, taking pictures of hands and shit. In my defense I was bored + REALLY HUNGRY.

FINALLY THE FOOD ARRIVES.

I'm not a fan of sashimi myself, but I thought these looked pretty good.

Agedashi tofu!

And a picture of my main: teriyaki beef steak with foie gras. The beef? Not so great. The foie gras? DELICIOUS. I make no apologies for my love of foie gras. I just. IT'S SO GOOD.

Bacon and asparagus skewers! Also pretty good.

We actually ordered quite a bit more food, including sukiyaki, but I was really hungry by then so, um. No pictures of those, hahaha.

It was a good night, overall. This week has been ridiculously stressful. I'm not even sure why. Maybe it's all the deadlines converging at once, or something.
